It’s amazing – but we finally got away for about 2 days total (left Wednesday morning – came home Friday afternoon). It was completely worth it to see the beach! We headed up to Ocean City, MD and had a blast. We stayed on the boardwalk so there was a DAIRY QUEEN right under us. No – I only ate there 1x
But I should have gone back.
Personally I wasn’t ready to come home yet - but next year we’ll try for longer. Usually on vacations – by the end of it I’m ready to head home. At least it was that way in the past. But the farm needs weigh heavily on stuff that needs to be done. Joe never quite relaxes because he is thinking of all the stuff we have to do and what things will be like when we get back. The “stuff” piles up and no matter how long you escape for – it doesn’t go away and I believe the list just gets longer.
Luckily – we got home yesterday…. were able to pick tomatoes and jalepenos …… and today I am canning the stuff as it rains and the wind picks up.
Don’t get me wrong – I love living here. But it is a TON of work. And though some days it seems like I sit on my butt
Stuff needs to get done and I seem to get behind a lot. It’s just me. I burn out quickly and need more breaks I think.
On some less whiny notes….. this is one of the reasons I love to homeschool. We were able to start school earlier than public school kids… get most of the work done in the beginning of the week – then head out on Wednesday while other kids were in school. Kinda cool huh? Granted – our kids didn’t know where we were going until we got there…. walked out on the boardwalk and they saw the beach! It was a great surprise for them and wonderful to see their faces when we did it. Hardest thing I had to do was packing for kids without them knowing about it and loading it up in the car.
So we are back….. canning and Joe is working in the garage…….I’m working on getting some stuff for the kids on CD so they can listen and follow along with some of their books for school and we go from there.
